Products of The South: Luzianne Authentic Southern Iced Tea

With a high today already above the forecasted 73 degrees Fahrenheit and the forecast putting us at 79 on Sunday, I feel safe to say that the winter is now behind us here in the Crescent City. As our minds turn to Easter, and I think about pulling my seersucker suit out of storage my mind is drawn to a beverage I discovered last summer which is all too appropriate for the head of the seasons that will soon be upon us. This beverage as it turns out is also very appropriate for any discussion of the south, though its presence in New Orleans was virtually nonexistent until the past few years. The drink of which I write is Sweet Tea; the particular type I discovered last summer is the Luzianne Authentic Southern Iced Tea . I had never been a huge iced tea fan until I found this stuff (although I have been quite partial to the Arnold Palmer for a while now). Luzianne Authentic Southern Iced Tea, which is already brewed and bottled, was introduced in 2008. I think the particular reason that I like this stuff is that the taste stands out clearly as having no high-fructose corn syrup; it tastes of the “pure cane sugar and fresh spring water” that it is made with. A few of the points that Luzianne provide are:
      • Available in 16oz single-serve bottles and 96oz multi-serve bottles
      • Available in a variety of Southern flavors: Sweet Tea, Lemon, Raspberry, Green Tea with Mint and Diet Peach
      • Made from real Luzianne tea leaves, which are specially blended for iced tea
      • Has the fresh-brewed taste of Luzianne (bagged tea)
      • Luzianne tea is specially blended to provide clear, never cloudy iced tea.--Clear as a bell.
      • Luzianne is a family owned company, since 1902 (by the Reily family. Company history)
note: This is a good Louisiana company that produces such other great products as Blue Plate Mayonnaise and CDM Coffee
      • Luzianne bottled tea was introduced in 2008
So, go pick up a bottle and enjoy it while doing something southern like sitting on a front porch.
