      Carnival A-Z: Ladders

When I have kids, they are going to have the sweetest ladder ever. It will be painted in perfect Carnival Style, it will have a cupholder for the Adult on the back, and it will have a carpet seat for the kids. Nah, I’ll put some nice outdoor fabric cushions. And jet engines. And a totally sweet sound system. My Ladder will have power flush technology.

This statement is not that far fetched. To New Orleanians (and probably those from Mobile also), a Ladder is just a ladder. That is unless the ladder is for the viewing of parades. Then we add seats on top for the kids to sit in. Then we add wheels for getting it to and from the spot we watch the parade. Many are then painted and decorated.

To give you an idea of what we do, here are a few pics:

Oh, by the way, when I have kids they will, in fact, have an awesome Ladder.
